Tokina 24 f2,8 in FD Mount Adapted for m4/3

Tokina 24 f2,8 in FD Mount Adapted for m4/3

It's been a while again since I posted but work keeps getting in the way.

Anyway, as promised, I'm posting some images from a few legacy manual focusing lenses. I've only got one ad lens so far (but I'm going to have to retest that one) and all are great fun to use.

Let's start with the Tokina 24 f2,8 in FD mount.
Lacks some contrast but otherwise a good lens. A hood is a must with all these older lenses, so that is going to be my next purchasing priority. I think I'll go for the rubber ones that screw to the front of the lens. Problem with that is, if I have a hood on there what am I going to to about my filters.

Minolta MD 35 f2.8

Minolta MD 35 f2.8

This is my first entry for some time. Work has really kept me busy. Seems I'm now back in the land of the living. I've got a lot to catch-up on so lets get on with it. I've recently received an arsenal of manual focus lenses ranging from Olympus OM to Konica and Sigma, Minolta and Pentax and of course Voigtlaender. The latter really are quality made lenses. Unfortunately they are rather expensive. However, I will be testing all these lenses int he coming weeks and months and I'll post some images from all of them.
At teh end of it all there probably will be a gallery up just from these manual focus lenses. I prefer using my Olympus m4/3 cameras for this work. I seem to be able to focus a lot easier than with the Panasonic cameras. I don't use the magnification function, it just gets me confused. Really looking forward to the E-P3 and probably the E-PL3 (could be too small though).

Anyway, the first image here is with the Minolta MD 35 f2.8 lens. Quite nice actually. I'm looking for a lens in the 24 to 35 range that gives me the same image quality and contrast as my Yashica 55 f2 lens. I've seen some Yashica lenses in that range but they have a high price. All of my manual lenses cost very little which I bought on ebay (in the 8 to 35 Euro range).

Pentax-M SMC 135 f3.5

Pentax-M SMC 135 f3.5

The second image today is from the Pentax-M SMC 135 f3.5 lens. I got this one because it's not as big as the f2.8 version and it's lighter too (which to me is the whole point of the m4/3 system). Extremely well built lens and smooth action. A pleasure to use. This will be the longest lens I'll use for a manual focus lens ont he m4/3 system. After that I don't think I could hand-hold it and get a sharp image.

I f anybody out there has any experience with the Yashica 24 or 35 manual focus lenses, please leave me a message.

Voigtlaender 50 f1.5 II

Voigtlaender 50 f1.5 II

This is the second of the two images. I still think the Yashica has the better clarity and contrast. The Voigtlaender feels better in the hand though. Focusing is smoother and I think the build quality is a rung higher up the ladder.

Voigtlaender 50 f1.5

Voigtlaender 50 f1.5

As promised, here are two images from the Voigtlaender 50 f1.5. They look ok but it took a bit more work to get the look. Quite a bit more contrast was applied but they do sharpen up pretty nicely.
These two were taken on Saturday, a day before the Yashica images. Lighting was a little diferent, but not by much.

Yashica 55 f2 Manual Focus Lens II

Just to show the difference between the Yashica and Voigtlaender lenses I'll post a couple from the Voigtlaender later today. This is another one from the Yashica, taken yesterday on a little walk down town.
