Checking focaus and bokeh again. It really cougght this plant swaying, again. Tried this twice in succession and succeeded both times. Bokeh looks good again and the white flowers at the bootom were not overexposed. The more I use the Nex system, the more I like it.

07/31/12 Sony SEL 50 f1.8Another bokeh shot. Looks good to me. Nailed focus too as the plant was actually swaying in the wind. I've now set focus on the Nex to DMF. That allows me to tune fine focus manually after the system thinks it's locked focus. Tried it a few times when I was testing the lens and seems to work quite well. I think I'll keep it on this setting from now on. 1174

07/30/12 Sony SEL 50 f1.8Detail looks good and the leaves are really that green. BTW, the flower looks not quite white for the simple reason it wasn't. It was pale lilac in colour which actually does show in the image. Really impressed so far. 1172
NEX-5N Focal Length: 50 mm Aperture: f/3.5 Exposure Time: 1/250 sec ISO: 200 • Sony • Nex-5N • SEL 50 f1.8
07/29/12 Sony SEL 50 f1.8Looking for some bokeh shots and some more backgroud separation images.
I don't know about you, but this lens delivers. This is only the 3rd or 4th lens I have tested that gives the 3D impression to the image. More of those to come later. The rose in the foreground really does stand out against the background. Sharp too, and the colours are true to how they were. 1265
NEX-5N Focal Length: 50 mm Aperture: f/1.8 Exposure Time: 1/1600 sec ISO: 200 • Sony • Nex-5N • SEL 50 f1.8
07/28/12 Sony SEL 50 f1.8I like the rendition this lens gives me. Not unlike the CV lenses which is a good thing. Again the exposure was correct and focus was spot on. All these images were hand held and more snapshots than anything else. I was expecting a lot more missed focused shot than I had. Again a plus point for this lens. 1341
NEX-5N Focal Length: 50 mm Aperture: f/3.5 Exposure Time: 1/3200 sec ISO: 200 • Sony • Nex-5N • SEL 50 f1.8
07/27/12 Sonjy SEL 50 f1.8I really didn't know what expect after my few test shots around the house. I actually thought I had a Monday lens, where everything goes wrong.
I was really impressed by the images after an afternoon outing to the local arboretum. It nailed the focus with this one and the colours and micro contrast fit the bill too. 1410

07/26/12 Sony SEL 50 f1.8I bought this lens on a whim after seeming some really nice images from it.
After trying to find the time to go out with it, I took the time last weekend and put all other obligations aside. After testing the lens around the house I was a bit dismayed by the quality I was getting. The mistake I did was not using the supplied hood. A tip for all users of this lens. Always use the hood with it. It really made a difference to the images. More to come from this lens in the next few days. 1282

07/25/12 Olympus OM 135 f3.5 on the Sony Nex-7Focusing manually on the Nex system with these legacy lenses and the peeking function offered by the system is really a joy. The system nailed this using the peeking fuction and it's really spot on. I have heard that a lot of people feel that the system isn't that accurate but I personally have had no problems with it. I set the system to medium and it seems work fine. 1913
NEX-7 Focal Length: unknown Aperture: f/1.0 Exposure Time: 1/500 sec ISO: 100 07/24/12 Olympus OM 135 f3.5 on the Sony Nex-7The brighter 135mm lenses (f2, f2.5 and f2.8) may deliver better performance but one big advantage of the f3.5 lenses is size and weight. They really are small and quite light. One disadvantage of these lenses is that you have to mount them using an adapter and these can make the lens seem rather large as it can add 2.5 to 3cms to the lens length. Doesn't sound much but it's a killer for some people. These systems are small and the whole point for some users to use the these systems on vacation etc is the size and weight. I fully agree with them but I enjoy using these legacy lenses so much the I'm willing to pay the price. 1565
NEX-7 Focal Length: unknown Aperture: f/1.0 Exposure Time: 1/320 sec ISO: 100 07/23/12 Olympus OM 135 f3.5 on the Sony Nex-7I've been looking at some 135mm lenses of late and have aquired 3 or 4 to see which one works best on the Nex system. I'm pretty sure that these old legacy lenses behave differently on the m4/3 system. Using a lens on the Nex system doesn't necessarily mean that you get the same rendition on the m4/3 system. One lens might work on one system but not so well on the other. The way I see it at the moment the longer lenses work better on the m4/3 system and the shorter focal lengths work better on the Nex system. I'm going to have to test these lenses on both systems to see if my instincts are true or not. By longer focal lengths I'm talking about lenses of 90mm and upwards. I've now aquired all the lenses I need to do the tests, all I need now is time :-)
This is a nice portrait taken on the Olympus OM 135 f3.5 and the rendition is quite nice. One of the best in its class. 1373
