12/26/13 Sony Alpha A7 - Voigtländer Heliar 15 f4.5This is the widest lens I have for the FF cameras I now own and I must admit it's very difficult to achieve good images with it. It takes a lot of practice with a wide angle lens because fore, middle and background must have something that fills the frame. I don't think I've achieved the stage where I can use this lens with any degree of confidence. I have a long way to go. Looking now at this image I also have to admit it could do with a good clean.
I used this lens quite a bit on the Nex-5N but only for B&W conversion on the Nex-7 because of the colour cast problem. This will show it's face again on the Alpha cameras, be certain of it. The weather being very bad at present, testing this lens isn't really an option, I would only get soaked and the equipment as well. 1306
unknown Focal Length: unknown Aperture: unknown Exposure Time: unknown ISO: unknown 12/18/13 Sony Alpha A7 - Voigtländer Heliar 75 f2.5This is one of my alltime favourite manual focusing lens on the nex system. Extremely sharp at all apertures with very good micro contrast, it has never failed to get me the image I wanted. As you can see it is very small, not too light with very good build quality and fits on the new Alpha A7 very well. It does't give the impression that it's too big or too heavy for the system and it a dream to use. I will be using this lens a lot ont he A7 if my testing proves to be positive. I have no reason to doubt that the lens will not perform on the A7/A7R because it was perfect on the Nex-7. 1089
unknown Focal Length: unknown Aperture: unknown Exposure Time: unknown ISO: unknown 03/05/13 Voigtländer Heliar 75 f2.5This is the last image from this lens for the present but I hope you can see what I'm talking about when I say that these images are sharp corner to corner (although the image might be a little small for you to see). This image is nothing special but I still like it.
More later on this lens. 1210
NEX-7 Focal Length: unknown Aperture: f/1.0 Exposure Time: 1/50 sec ISO: 100 03/04/13 Voigtländer Heliar 75 f2.5When I look at the rendition of images like this one, I tend to rethink what I like using because to me, modern lenses do not give you such images. They tend to be a little plasticky, although they are sharp.
Some of the images I get with these lenses appear not to be sharp but are, in reality, sharp.
Still reminds me of what Leica lenses are capable of. 1384
NEX-7 Focal Length: unknown Aperture: f/1.0 Exposure Time: 1/125 sec ISO: 100 03/03/13 Voigtländer Heliar 75 f2.5The Heliar 75 f2.5 is very sharp on the Nex and m4/3 systems. I like using it on the E-PL1 although focusing is a little harder but the lens delivers; a little better on the m4/3 system. Or it could just be that I like the rendition better on that system. That 24MP sensor is really hard on some of these lenses. They just weren't built for this type of system and I'm thinking that the sensor out-resolves the lens. 1212
NEX-7 Focal Length: unknown Aperture: f/1.0 Exposure Time: 1/125 sec ISO: 100 03/02/13 Voigtländer 75 f2.5I've used this lens quite a bit on the m4/3 system and on the Nex-5N but not really on the Nex-7. This sensor really does require very good lenses to shine. Although focusing is quite good using the peeking (or is it peaking?) function my eyes aren't what they used to be and the more I use these legacy lenses the more I tend to appreciate AF lenses. I think I'll start using the Nex-7 with the LA-EA2.
Lenses that I can use are the 85 f2.8, the 35 f1.8 and the 50 f1.4. This way I get AF using PDAF.

NEX-7 Focal Length: unknown Aperture: f/1.0 Exposure Time: 1/400 sec ISO: 100 01/14/13 Manual Focus LensesA side view of the Heliar, Ultron and Nokton lenses I posted yesterday. Some of you might have been wondering what they really look like. That Nokton does seem fat doesn't it, but only because the other two are really slim...really. I might just post some images of these lenses mounted on the Nex or E-PL1 cameras just so that you can see how small they are. The Nokton is the heaviest of the 3 lenses and is one of my favourite lenses. 1232

01/13/13 Manual Focus LensesAfter a little sorting I realized that I have some nice Voigtländer lenses the some of you might not know about. The first 3 are the Heliar 75 f2.5, the Ultron 35 f1.7 and the Nokton 50 f1.5. I've shown a number of images from the 75 and the 50 and I use then quite a bit on both the Nex and m4/3 cameras. The 35 I don't use a lot and I'll explain why in the next couple of days. Most of these lenses cannot be bought new anymore because they just don't make them. They have been superceeded by newer models but that doesn't mean that the newer ones are better than these models here. Both the 75 and 50 perform very well on the Nex and having fokus peeking is a major plus on these cameras. I use my E-PL1 mostly for manual focus lenses in the m4/3 camp because I find it easier to focus than on the other models. 1193

11/01/11 Voigtlaender Heliar 75 f2.5This is the final image in this series on the Voigtlaender Heliar 75 f2.5. This lens is no longer in production but there is the newer 75 f1.8 version which is a bit larger than the f2.5 version. Personally I don't require f1.8 so I opted for the older version. I'm really glad I did because of size and it was a lot cheaper than the f1.8 version. I hope you found the posts on this lens useful. 1609
