I really like these images. Just can't stop posting them. Also it's great fun taking these. i could stay at these aquariums all day watch ing the fish (and everything else you can find there) doing what they do.

I really don't understand how this lens gets a bad reputaion in a lot of forums, unless there's a lot of variation. Maybe Olympus QA isn't all that it should be although I must say I haven't received a bad Olympus lens yet. The new primes are excellent in build quality AND image quality. By recent primes I mean the 12 f2 and the 45 f1.8. 1342

The hing ISO noise is good enough with this little fast lens that you can ramp the ISO setting up to around 800. That is about my limit with the present sensor in these m4/3 cameras. Some go higher of course but the noise really does start to bother me at higher settings. 985

I don't use anything else at this time for this type of photography. I must admit though, I know I'm going to one of these places in January but I'm goiong to take my Sony NEX-5N and a fast CV prime manual focus lens with me. The APS-C sensor should be better in low light for this (high ISO). The lens I'm taking is also faster than the Panasonic 20 f1.7. I'll post some images when I return and let you know how things turned out. I am also doing a first next month. I'm taking a system that is totally manual. Not a single autofocus lens at all. I hope I'm not going to regret this. 1018
E-PL1 Focal Length: 20 mm Aperture: f/1.7 Exposure Time: 1/30 sec ISO: 400 01/23/12  Olympus 14-42 Kit lens (m4/3)The last image from this lens right now. It occured to me that some users may be confused about which lens I'm talking about here. It's the original m4/3 14-42 that came with my E-P2. Although I do have the Four Thirds version of this lens too, I don't tend to use it much. It's not a bad lens but there are many more better lenses for that system.
The m4/3 version however is very compact and folds up into itself when you have finished shooting. Very useful.
When I saw this crane with that great coloured sky in the background it reminded me of some gigantic maschine in one of these scifi films. It was a quick snap but it turned out great in my opinion. 1365
E-PL1 Focal Length: 32 mm Aperture: f/4.9 Exposure Time: 1/45 sec ISO: 100 01/22/12  Olympus 14-42 Kit LensHere we go, the second image from this lens that I like. Nice light for it too. This was taken on the E-PL1 which I think is a great camera. In some respects it handles better than the more expensive E-P2 and E-P3. The function I like is that the histogram stays on the screen as you change EC. I can't get this on the E-P3 for instance.
I didn't go for the E-P1 for the simple reason it didn't have an EVF and like I've said before I just can't stand taking picures with my arms held out in front of me. I just can't frame properly using a camera like that. 1065

It might have some wobble and such and the build quality isn't stellar but I think it takes some nice images. This was taken at around 22:00 during summer of 2010. I like it, and just to show that the lens isn't all that bad I'll show another taken around the same time in my next post. 1563
