Let's talk a little about the lens. This is the first zoom with a constant aperture of f2.8 throughout the zoom range that's been brought to market. The next will be the 35-100 f2.8. If the 35-100 is the same quality as the 12-35 then it's going to be a winner. The 12-35 is well built, focuses fast on the G5 and produces first rate images. I've seen some negative comments on the net regarding this lens, but most of those were using this lens of an Olympus body. As I've stated before, I tend to use Panasonic lenses on Panasonic bodies and the same goes for Olympus. I think that's the only way for you to get the ultimate image quality that one seeks.

12/01/12 Panasonic G5 mounting the Panasonic 12-35 f2.81613
DMC-G5 Focal Length: 35 mm Aperture: f/7.1 Exposure Time: 1/320 sec ISO: 160 • Panasonic • G5 • 12-25 f2.8 • Clouds
11/30/12 Panasonic G5 mounting the Panasonic 12-35 f2.8This is also one of the first images taken with this combination, it's actually image #43 on the counter.
I stated in my last post that if you use the electronic shutter on the G5 then the shutter sound is non-existant. This is true but it does bring some drawbacks with it, namely: ISO is limited to 1600 and the flash is disabled. Burst mode in high speed is also disabled and the shutter is maxed at 1 second. Now, if I made a list of pros and cons for using the e-shutter then my pros would win every time. The disadvantges that go with the e-shutter doesn't influence my way of using the camera in any way. So, I'll be using the e-shutter most of the time. Stealth mode so to speake. 1836

11/29/12 Panasonic G5 mounting the Panasonic 12-35 f2.8It's really amazing how much gear you can gather in a period of only a few years. This is about the first image taken with this new combination of the Panasonic G5 and the excellent 12-35 f2.8. I think this is the best camera Panasonic have brought to market since the DMC-L1. For those of you who have been reading this blog you'll know that the L1 is my favourite camera of all time because of the ergonomics and the image quality I get from it. I was very surprised at the focusing speed of the camera, to my mind it equals the Olympus OM-D if not a little faster. The shutter sound is non-existant if using the electronic shutter option. More in the next post. 1512

E-M5 Focal Length: 45 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/500 sec ISO: 200 07/21/12 CloudsEver watch the clouds go by? I have and do it a lot. Amazing to see how they change so quickly. I always seem to see faces or shapes up there.
This was taken with the Olympus OM-D, a real snappy camera. The lens was the 45 f1.8. Very sharp and a real bargain. If you haven't got it, get it. Fantastic portrait lens and it does a lot of other things pretty well too. The OM-D is a classy camera, very well thought out and very snappy to focus.

Shot with the Nex-5N and the 18-55 kit lens. 2136
unknown Focal Length: unknown Aperture: unknown Exposure Time: unknown ISO: unknown 06/10/12 Cloud Time AgainIt's that time again. There comes a season where these huge nimbus clouds form and I just love it. For those who have been back here once or twice before, you already know my craving for these sort of clouds. I've posted enough in the past about it.
This was taken on a Nex-7 with the SAL adapter and the very cheap SAL 55-200 attached to the front. Kirk Tuck was enjoying this lens so for the price I thought I'd give it a go. Not too shabby either. Really worth the money. 1984
