Panasonic GF-1 and the 14-45 Kit Lens

Panasonic GF-1 and the 14-45 Kit Lens

Every time I take this combination out, it's great fun. Small, unobtrusive and delivers great images. Bokeh isn't all that bad either when you look at the above image.

Panasonic GF-1 with the 14-45 Kit Lens.

Panasonic GF-1 with the 14-45 Kit Lens.

This was taken at the port in Malaga,Spain. Weather wasn't great but I prefer this sort of weather to full sunshine. One doesn't get harsh shadows and the dynamic range doesn't exceed that of the sensor. Pretty sharp too. The full sized image looks pretty good. I'll say it agin, the 14-45 kit lens is really a great lens offering a 28-90 range in 35mm terms which is enough for every day normal use.

Talk about low light. What actually drew me to this was the shadow on the wall. I thought it would be great for a B&W conversion. This was taken handheld. It was actually a number of images taken here as I wanted to be sure I got a good one. There were quite a few with signs of camera shake.
Converted to B&W in Photoshop.

Same combination. Taken in Spain during the one day of rain we've had there while on holiday. Well it was a quick shower and that was it.

Again with the 20 f1.7. Really great for low light work.

I'm still quite impressed with this camera and lens. The 20 f1.7 is still one of the best micro four thirds lenses out there. This was taken from 30,000' from a plane heading for Spain.

Sepia Toning

Sepia Toning

I like playing around with B&W convertion and sometimes I actually apply some toning to the image. Some photographers can actually see in B&W but I don't belong to that group. Shame really because I really like B&W. I have to convert an image to see if it works or not and most of the time I delete the final image because I couldn't make up my mind if it worked or not.
This one I like though.

Took the GF-1 and the 14-45 (best kit lens out there in my opinion) to a local private park that's only open one day per year. Weather wasn't all that great but there was a lot to see, a lot of stalls and a lot to eat. Had a great day.
This is the best kit lens out there I think and it constantly turms in sharp, contrasty images. I prefer using it on the G1 one tough as the GF-1 is better with the small primes like the 20 f1.7 or the 14 f2.5.
Great colour in this image.

This really is a classic camera. Coupled with the Panasonic 14-45 (which is the sharpest of the kit lenses in my opinion), it's very portable and produces great images.

Spring is on the march..!!!

This and the next image are pretty much high key.
Just testing the Panasonic GF-1 with the 14-45 kit lens.
Not bad at all. I find it much sharper than the 14-42 kit lens.
