This is the last from this combination now but I'm sure that I will be using these tools for a long time to come. I really like the old equipment, especially the first generation Pentax cameras with their 6MP sensors. Note to self: Dust them off and get those Pentax primes back out. Might even get myself that newly announced K5IIs which doesn't have a AA filter. Really a big deal if you're a raw shooter like myself. The images should be sharper and with those Pentax primes it'll be a nice setup to have.

Again converted with SFXII. One of the many stills during the 3 hour session. Aginn taken with the L1 and the PL 14-150. This is probably my favourite camera of all time. I've had some really great images out of it and although it's only a 7.5MP camera I don't need it for huge prints. I have 3 of these because I would be really lost if one died on me and I didn't have a backup. You don't hear much about them today because they're really old by todays standards. If you haven't tried one out, get one. They're really cheap on ebay these days. The 14-50 kit lens it came with can also be has for a few hundred these days. A really great kit lens in my opinion.

I took the L1 and the PL 14-150 with me deliberately to get some movement into the images. The L1 isn't the fastest of cameras to focus so I pre-focused and stopped the lens down. The reason for the lens is that my copy is sharp at all focal lengths and at all apertures. Really a great lens to have on the L1. As they danced in front I just held the shutter down and let the camera do it's thing. The camera was of course mounted on a tripod for all this. I think you can tell that because something in all the images is sharp.
This was converted in Nik SFXII which is still the best out there for converting to B&W.

A couple I know wanted some images of themselves dancing Tango. They wanted something different too, not only stills but wanted to show movement. I didn't know the venue but figured it could be very low lighting and not much daylight either. I was correct on both counts. Had a really hard time with white balance here. The Panasonic L1 is not known for it's correct white balance settings but since I'm a raw only photographer I really didn't care at the time.

PL 14-150 on Olympus E-1

PL 14-150 on Olympus E-1

Just look at these coulours. Im my opinion this is the best DSLR that Olympus ever produced. Just like the *D was the best camera that Pentax produced. I'm not saying that the following models were rubbish, I just think they didn't rival the first DSLRs that wre brough onto the market by both companies. I'll have to dig out some images from the Pentax *D, just to show how good it really is (because I'm still using mine today with the amazing Pentax pancake lenses).

PL 14-150 on Olympus E-1

Just thinking about this focal length zooms brings to mind the PL 14-150 lens for Four Thirds cameras. It seems that these lenses have been more successful on these formats than on any other. The image above was made on the first camera that Olympus brought out, namely the E-1. It's a 5MP camera but the files are really great. This lens also performs wonderfully on it (as well as on the Panasonic L1).

Ok this is going to be the last one. Promise. Just found another L1 with the PL 14-150 combination image. This is a scene from inside a harbour on the north French coast.

This is the last of thes images (for now). I'll have to go back and rumage through my archives to find more. Not sure if this one really works though. The background is a little funky I think. That's because the lens isn't fast enough. This was shot at 150mm which means I can only open the lens up to f5.6. That's it's maximum aperture at that focal length.

Again, just look how small and vulnerable that guy is in his kayak. Not sure if that my cup of tea. I prefer some land mass beneath my feet.

Again, very minimalistic. I was trying to show how small and helpless humans are on this world. I also liked how calm the Atlantic Ocean can be in this part of France (coast off Brittany). I can asure you, it is not this calm normally.
