Panasonic Lumix G Vario 45-150 f4-5.6

Panasonic Lumix G Vario 45-150 f4-5.6

The last image showing what this can do for now. Probably the next time I'll have a chance to use this lens will be in the spring, or, light permitting on a crip cold day this coming winter when snow is on the ground and a blue sky in the background.
I purchased this lens for €280 and I can definately say it's worth it. Couple this with the 14-45 kit lens and a macro then you're all set for most situations. Maybe the 25 f1.4 for low light stuff.

To bring this series to a close I thought I would post another couple of fungi images. Like I said the variety and amount this year was just incredible.

Really quite sharp. The lens seems to be very sharp at close focus distances. I'm holding judgement right now for infinity focus.

I had to get some frontlit trees or leaves during this walk. It's the only chance I've had this autumn since life tends to get in way sometimes. Then again, we have to realise that this is just a hobby and not my life. I think the same goes for everybody.

Just a few more inamges from this newly released lens. I think this will be my tele lens when going on holiday with my Panasonic gear. Couple this with the 14-45 kit lens and I'll be all set. The G5 will accompany both lenses of course.

One thing I REALLY like about the G5 is that I can have the level indicator AND the histogram in the display AT THE SAME TIME. This has never been possible on the Olympus cameras, and I can't figure out why not. If Panasonic can do it why can't Olympus. You have to push the info button on the Olympus cameras to scroll through the views. It really gets to me that and the one thing that I wish Olympus would fix. That's just a firmware fix, which can't be all that difficult .....is it Olympus?

I like the grip on the G5 (which is the reason I don't have a G3). It's has a very nice feel to it when holding in my right hand, which is the way I carry my cameras when on a walk. The camera is connected to my wrist of course with an Op-Tech wrist strap. I think they are the best on the market.
The Panasonic cameras, for me, are much more comfortable to carry than the Olympus cameras as they lack a grip that I can wrap my fingers around.

Panasonic Lumix G Vario 45-150 f4-5.6

This is the type of image I really like to take during the autumn period. Don't we all?
Focusing is quick with this combination, and I didn't get one missed focused image during the outing. That was a total of some 500 images. So I can safely say that focusing is also accurate with the combination.
Nice colours on that image don't you think?

I did notice some noise creeping in at ISO 1600 on the G5. More than I like really and it's nowhere as good as the Olympus OM-D. Having said that, I might need to look into my development process. rthis was the first time I had done some G5 raws so I might have a problem there. I just can't see Panasonic churning out a camera after all this time with the amount of noise I was experiencing.

Like I've said i the other posts, please don't take these images as a real test of this lens capabilities. By that I mean they were taken on a very quick walk through some woodland without much though process behind it. If you like, just call them snaps and have done with it.
The lens does focus very quickly with the G5t, I haven't tried it on any other camera at the time of this post. I might do that at a later date, or I'll just leave it altogether because the older cameras do NOT focus as fast as the G5.

Lake Garda, Italy

Lake Garda, Italy

I was admiring the view of this village with my wife when all of a sudden the sun just broke through and illuminated the whole village front. Not the lake in front or the mountains behind the village, just the village front. The image above shows exactly what it looked like. I was just amazed, and my mind got to thinking had the town planners planned for this? Did they know that at a certain time of year the sun illuminated just that part of Lake Garda and built the village with that in mind? Honestly, if they did plan it, congratulations on a fine job; if they didn't plan it, a lot of luck came into play when someone built this village exactly where it stands today.
