These images are not great, I just wanted to test how they still do with regard to the new cameras that have been released since I bought these. These orchids happened to be in bloom at the time and they make perfect testing models for this sort of thing. I believe that the Vario-Elmarit 14-50 f2.8-3.5 is one of the best kit lenses ever brought out. I also believe that it killed the sales of the Panasonic DMC-L1 because the asking price was astronomical. People who bought the combination though love it as I do. I've made some of my best images using this combination and with the Panaleica Vario-Elmarit 14-150 f3.5-5.6. I still use them on the L1.

10/18/12 "Old Equipment"3029
E-620 Focal Length: 50 mm Aperture: f/3.5 Exposure Time: 1/320 sec ISO: 200 • Olympus • E-620 • Panaleica • Vario-Elmarit • 14-50 f2.8-3.5
10/17/12 "Old Equipment"The title suggests that I'm going back many years when I say old, but this camera only come out a few years ago. Of course it's obsolete within 18 months as technology advances at a fast pace. I also have the E-420 which was the model before the E-620 came out. Of the two I prefer the images from the E-420. So why also purchase the E-620? Easy, it has IBIS and the E-420 doesn't.
Going back to a post some days ago when I mentioned that people love to surround themselves with new equipment, both of the above mentioned cameras can make better images than I can make. I decide how the image is taken and with what settings, not the camera. Probably the E-420 would be enough for me but it's that new equipment addiction that pokes it's head out from time to time. 2014
E-620 Focal Length: 50 mm Aperture: f/3.5 Exposure Time: 1/200 sec ISO: 200 • Olympus • E-620 • Panaleica • Vario-Elmarit • 14-50 f2.8-3.5
10/16/12 mZD 14-150 SharpnessThis is the last image. I can't fault this one at all. OK, these aren't fine art images but they do tell a story about this lens. If you're looking for a light compact travel lens, this is the one for you.
Notice the use of the square format which I tend to use exclusively with my m4/3 equipment lately. I just like the format and it makes framing the subject easier for me. Also perfect for portrait shots. 1501
E-M5 Focal Length: 120 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/250 sec ISO: 800 • Olympus • OM-D • mZD 14-150 • sharpness
10/15/12 mZD 14-150 SharpnessI think these images are sharp, even at this low resolution. Having said that, the smaller the resolution the shrper the images seems to be. But, having looked at the originals of these on my monitor I've come to the same conclusion. Maybe a little soft at the edges but it's good enough for me. I don't sell my images so I'm quite happy. 1945
E-M5 Focal Length: 150 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/250 sec ISO: 640 • Olympus • OM-D • mZD 14-150 • sharpness
10/14/12 mZD 14-150 SharpnessA small study of a flower to see just how sharp the mZD 14-150 is on the OM-D. Just three images in 3 different posts all taken with the OM-D and the mZD 14-150 lens. This will be the last of the 14-150 images again for now. After these posts I'll go back a little in time and post some images using some "antique" equipment. In the day and age of fast moving markets, and new equipment comes along almost on a daily basis, I think we all tend to get cought up in it to some degree. If you're like me then you get cought up in it a lot. But that's me, I've always been a bit of a technical freak.
I think these three images shows that it's not the equipment we use, but how it's used.
See for yourselves. 1986
E-M5 Focal Length: 150 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/250 sec ISO: 400 • Olympus • OM-D • mZD 14-150 • sharpness
10/13/12 Amazing ColoursSome amazing colours. I have no particular reason for posting this image (taken with the OM-D and mZD 14-150 combination). I just don't seem to see colours like these pretty often. 1772
E-M5 Focal Length: 135 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/320 sec ISO: 800 • Olympus • OM-D • E-M5 • mZD 14-150 • colours
10/12/12 Nik SFXIIThere are times when you know an image will look better in B&W than in colour. This is such an image. Using Nik SFXII to develop it allows you a lot of leaway in the way the image will look. There's so much control that I sometimes get lost in all of it, but I do get there eventually. I think it's time to create some profiles because every time I start a conversion, it's like starting from scratch again. Getting old I suppose. 2491
E-M5 Focal Length: 63 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/400 sec ISO: 200 • Software • Nik • SFXII • mZD 14-150 • Olympus
10/11/12 E-M5 and mZD 14-150 CombinationA bit of an abstract one here. I just liked the clash of coulours between the reds and yellows. Bokeh could be better but I don't have a prime that long and that fast to take a shot like this. 2994
E-M5 Focal Length: 150 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/250 sec ISO: 500 • E-M5 • Olympus • mZD 14-150
10/10/12 E-M5 and mZD 14-150 CombinationI just keep coming back to this lens over and over again. It's so small and compact and produces great images at either end on the zoom range that I just can't leave it at home. Granted, it's not as good as the Olympus m4/3 prime lenses but there are quite a few times I just cannot zoom with my feet. 1360
E-M5 Focal Length: 150 mm Aperture: f/5.6 Exposure Time: 1/250 sec ISO: 200 • E-M5 • Olympus • mZD 14-150
10/09/12 Olympus mZD 75-300My personal opinion about keeping animals in zoos and the like? Well, there's only one reason for it and that is to keep the species alive. The era of the normal zoo where people go to see animals kept in smal cages with no room to move, is coming to an end. And I'm glad of it. Slightly OT I know but since this is my photoblog I'm entiltled to it I suppose.
This is the last of the mZD 75-300 images for now but if I get any requests for more I can still post some. I've now accumulated quite a few from a couple of outings with it. This is definately a lens to take with me on my holidays together with the E-M5. I can strongly recommend it. 2214
